The Factory Interior Furnishings – expressions of interest

We are seeking a design partner who will work with us to help us open The Factory, and build a sustained partnership that may continue as the use of the building matures.

We are interested in working with early career or established interior and product designers to create environments for audiences, artists, staff and guests at The Factory. This includes furniture selection and bespoke items for 3 multi-use public ‘foyers’, back of house areas including dressing rooms, meeting rooms, offices and event space, as well as consideration of the public realm.


To apply we would like you to submit a document that explains your design approach and ethos, and relevant experience, along with some key information further outlined in the pdf Brief above. The initial phases of concept work will begin Autumn 2021 and we anticipate the successful partner will help steer the project through concept, design and costing, tender, realisation and operation. This will include engaging with a range of stakeholders from within the MIF team, our board, the architects (OMA and Ryder Architecture) and other members of the embedded design team for The Factory, as well as consultations with user groups that may include MIF’s advisory forums, our brand agency North, etc.
