We’re looking for a number of Freelance Production Managers to work with us on Manchester International Festival (MIF) in 2021 and beyond.

MIF invites great artists from across the globe to create extraordinary new work for the Festival, which is staged every two years at venues and found spaces across Manchester. Our future home is The Factory, a world-class cultural space being built in the heart of the city, where we’ll present a year-round programme and artists will be able to develop work of huge ambition and scale that they might not be able to anywhere else.

We want to bring together a talented pool of people to support the work we’re doing now and to help us prepare for The Factory, reaching out into every corner of Manchester and harnessing the talent and energy that is found across the city and beyond.

At MIF we work hard to deliver an internationally important creative and cultural programme, which takes dedication but is incredibly rewarding, so we need committed and passionate people to join our team.

We match the right people to the right projects, which means your start date and contract length will depend on the project you work on – you could be working on the MIF21 and/or touring MIF productions to co-commissioner or other venues outside the Festival period, or working on developing projects for the first few years at The Factory.

Freelance Producers and Production Manager call out brief

Freelance Production Managers (Various)

As a Freelance Production Manager you will work with the show specific Producer and MIF’s Technical team to deliver the technical aspects of cross-art form shows on a variety of scales in conventional and found spaces. This will include:

  • Working with the Producer and creative team to ensure the technical aspects of the project work within the budget, timescale and capacity of the venue (incl touring partner venues)
  • Creating and managing technical schedules
  • Identifying technical staffing needs for each show and building a team as required
  • Creating the show’s production bible
  • Writing risk assessments and inputting into the overall Event Management Plan
  • Completing relevant Construction Design and Management paperwork, and acting as Principle Designer & Principle Contractor
  • Working with third party suppliers of equipment
  • Scheduling and chairing production meetings
